Local public authorities, Regional public authorities, Infrastructure and (public) service providers, general public, bussiness support organisations, other (NGOs, SME).


Results

To increase circular material use rates in the Central Baltic region by improving the collection, recycling, and reuse of plastic, textile, and electronic waste through innovative solutions and cross-border cooperation.

Expected results

  • Created 8 pilot demo sites for waste collection (plastic, textile, e-waste).
  • 29 tonnes/year of waste collected at demo sites.
  • 70% circular use rate from collected waste (approx. 20.3 tonnes/year reused or recycled).
  • 40 participants engaged in cross-border circular economy education.
  • 3 improved product/service chains through mapping and collaboration.
  • Increased public awareness of circular economy and responsible waste disposal.
  • Enhanced cooperation between waste collectors and recyclers across borders.

Main activities of the project

The SustainaCycle project is built around three work packages aiming to boost circular use of plastic, textile, and electronic waste in the Central Baltic region. The goal is to implement cross-border solutions for better waste collection, recycling, and public awareness.

Waste Chain Mapping and Modelling

  • Desk study of existing mapping and modelling tools.
  • Lifecycle evaluation of materials (plastic, textile, e-waste).
  • Identification of key stakeholders and value chain actors.
  • Mapping companies using recycled materials.
  • Analysis of opportunities for circularity.
  • Modelling potential circular economy loops.
  • Communication and external engagement strategy.

Smart and Innovative Waste Collection Solutions

  • Joint planning of smart and mobile waste collection systems.
  • Procurement and installation of demo collection points.
  • Pilot implementation and monitoring of smart collection points.

Public Awareness and Circular Economy Education

  • Circular economy workshops for businesses and stakeholders.
  • Educational awareness raising campaign.
  • Feedback mechanism to track public response and behavior change
